Kate a poet? Empty Kate a poet?

Post by horizonshavenolimit Fri 03 Apr 2009, 10:46 pm

I have been thinking about writing a lot lately (thats usually what happens when i procrastinate writing my own stuff) and agree with one interviewer that kate's lyrics are poetry put to music.

*THE POINT OF THIS THREAD* (i did that in case someone didn't want to read my ramblings but i guess they got sucked in anyway oops)

Which lyric/Lyrics are your fave?

Kate a poet? Empty Re: Kate a poet?

I’ve had little too much too think.
and
But they told me, they told me
Things aren’t always as they seem
But they told me they told me
I should just concentrate and breathe

I think Listen as a whole is genius and Little Lungs is just amazing.

i am definitely gonna agree with
"i've had a little too much to think"
that pretty much sums up me

another lyric i adore is
I could live through this
I can live through worse
So play it back in reverse
Oh play it back in reverse

and

Cause it’s okay to fall down
It’s okay to crumble

oh man I love her lyrics soooo much!
hmm let's see I definitely agree with
It's okay to fall down, it's okay to crumble
but I also love
When you see me sit by myself you'll think that I'm waiting for someone else, but I'm wishing for somewhere else
ok last one
[i]I'm recalling, putting on jackets way too thin to fight against snow way too thick

I'd have to go with

"This is a song for the one that I love
I haven't met them yet
But I'm quietly confident"

First song I heard of theirs and it has remained my favorite

When you see me sit by myself you'll think that I'm waiting for someone else, but I'm wishing for somewhere else

I concur with these, as well as:

And all my broken hearts
And all my forgettable false starts

I really feel something from these lines, I know how forgettable false starts feel (since they seem to be all I am able to accomplish).

I love finding songs whose lyrics I can connect so directly to aspects of my own life... I'm simply in awe of Kate, and of Damon, in that every An Horse song achieves this.

my favorite (I wish I didn't feel so pretentious spelling it the other way, haha) has to be: I got so scared that you might be a better me than me.

But I also like the other ones everyone pointed out, especially:

When you see me sit by myself you'll think that I'm waiting for someone else, but I'm wishing for somewhere else

And all my broken hearts
And all my forgettable false starts

The lyrics from Little Lungs are all good too.

I used "we can live through this, we can live through worse" as an ending quote for a paper.

Although what if like he said
All I’m looking for doesn’t exist
Oh I have to believe it does

Best lyrics I've heard from an indie band in a long time.
